We recently acquired a new 2000 server. This is pretty
much overkill, since we don't need a server. My ultimate
goal is to simply make the server into a network hard
drive for programs, drivers, etc...
Anyway, I've been unable to figure out how to make the
server act like a normal computer on the network. The
previous owners suggested that I should delete
everything. So I ran setup to do a clean install of the
software, but now when i boot the computer it comes up
with a dual boot screen, and when windows 2000 setup is
chosen, it goes almost instantly into "inaccessible boot
device error", error 0x0000007b. I am at a total loss
about what to do. I try to make the 2000 setup disks;
damned thing won't read them when I try them out.
So, in short I have three problems I would love to have
some help on.
1. Getting the server to act as a mundane participant on
the (very simple small busines) network.
2. How do I get rid of the the dual boot screen?
3. How can I get a clean install done?
and 4. I'm thinking about simply formatting everything
from the dos command and hoping the cd will take up the
slack and I'll be able to boot with it and install from
there. Is this a good idea?
Thanks so much for your time. I would appreciate any help
at all. Thank you.
