I dual-boot 98se and XP. Will an X800 or 850 work with both OS's?

Hi:

Right now I use an older 9700 Pro, using both 98se and xp
catalyst drivers in the separate 98se and xp partitions.
. I want to upgrade to an x800 or x850, but I don't know if
either video card will work with win98se.

To complicate matters, I see that the 98/ME Catalyst 6.2 drivers
claim to offer "beta" support for the x800 and x850. Does that mean
that the 98/ME catalyst 6.2 will allow 98se to run?

I don't know a lot about this technical stuff, so I would
appreciate anyone who could provide me with some good information or
advice.

Thank you __very__ much.

PS: I just found this group, downloaded over 9000 messages, and
skimmed the contents. My brain immediately overloaded, my eyes glazed
over, and my head went into shut-down mode. Too many different cards,
too many different technical issues, and too many different answers to
try to sort out.
That's why I wrote this post. I'm hoping for some direct, to the
point, clear suggestions, info and advice about these 2 cards and
win98se. (I know they will work with XP, using the XP catalyst
drivers.)

Thanks again.

Yes, the 98/ME 6.2 drivers will let X800 and X850 cards work in 98SE.
Although if you get an AIl-in-Wonder X800XT (easiest to find new nowadays),
I'm not sure if software support exists for the TV tuner and recorder
functions.

Use http://groups.google.com/advanced_search to search for old posts. Very
handy, especially if your news server retention times are short.
