DSN Issues after Converting from FAT32 to NTFS

I have just converted my son's PC from FAT32 to NTFS and
everything went great with the conversion. However, now
I cannot get any application that use DSN to resolve? I
have a valid 'network connection' and can ping the DSN
servers, but IE will not find websites always failing
with 'DNS ERROR'. I can see my 'local network' (MSHOME) -
printer, shares, etc. But cannot get to DSN. I'm also
getting failures in NAV and AIM? Any ideals? I'm pretty
sure the 'network' setup is correct. I've seen several
articles talking about 'permissions' getting messed up
during conversion - could this have anything to do with
it? Thanks.
