I have a desktop Pentium 4, 2.4Ghz with 512MB of Ram that runs Win XP
Professional and an IBM Thinkpad laptop Pentium III, 800Mhz with 128MB
of Ram which runs Win 2000, Service Pack 4.

Both are connected to a Linksys router and I have DSL with 1.5
downstream and I consistently receive about 1.3.

The web on the XP machine is as fast as you would expect with a 1.5 DSL
connection. Pages appear near instantaneously. However, the web on the
W2000 machine is very slow. It consistently takes over 30 seconds to
access web sites that come up instantly on the XP machine. My guess
would be that there is some Windows problem on the W2000 laptop that is
causing the delay. Can anyone help?

perhaps you might wanna try putting the IP address of your router in the
'gateway' field of your win2k.
