On a windows 2000 sevice pack 4 computer I have recently
been frustrated by not being able to access drives other
than c: I had a Samsung cd r/rw ( Drive d: set as master)
and a dvd rom ( Drive e: set as slave ) on IDE2.
The cd came with nero 5.5 ages ago. I removed nero
recently to try messing aroung with something else and
since then both drives have given the error

D:\ is not accessible
Incorrect function

funny enough both still autoboot audio cds to real player.

Drive a: gives a similar error

I have tried disconnecting both drives and putting in an
old Acer cd player from the shelf and although picked up
as being present this also fails with the same error.

A USB drive in the form of an F410 camera gives the same
error if plugged in after startup but is found if it is
plugged in before the computer is booted.

Any ideas would be welcome

It's caused by Norton Antivirus. Visit their site and search for the
error message to find the fix. And please don't paste copies of your
message all over the place, use crossposting if you need to address
multiple groups.
