Hi Everybody,
When I try to put my Dell Dimension 4550 desktop (with Windows XP Pro SP2)
into the hibernate mode, I recieve two error messages that say my computer
can't hibernate because the BCM V. 92 56K Voicemodem and the Communications
Port (com1) won't close and it is recommended that I update the drivers to
solve the problem. So I went to device manager (which told me the devices
were working fine), and used the hardware update wizard to update both
drivers. But the problem still persists.
To be honest, I really don't know what these two devices do. I have a
cable internet connection. And I believe that the voicemodem is for a dial up
connection. Also, I don't have any idea what the COM1 port does, but I
suspect that it maybe "tied" too the voicemodem. I currently have both
devices disabled, so I can use the hibernate mode for shutdown.
I am curious as to what maybe causing this problem. Any feedback will be
appreciated. Thanks.

Your Friend,
Larry
