Drive Not Ready

I have a strange problem.............

Been using a 40GB 2.5inch external USB drive for past couple of years on
both my two desktop machines and my laptop without any problems. Now, all of
a sudden, when connected to one of my desktops (ASUS P4 3.2Ghz mobo), I keep
getting an error window appearing...............

Windows - Drive Not Ready
Exception Processing Message c00000a3
Parameters 75b6bf7c4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c

When connected, autoplay is invoked and I can access as normal.

Despite either, 'cancel', 'try again' or 'continue', I cannot get rid of the
error window.

It still keeps coming up even after I have safely removed.

The only way to stop it appearing is to log off/on (or restart).

I can connect to my other desktop and my laptop and no error window appear ??

Appreciate any help on this.
