I installed new printer drivers for HP printer I just purchased. Everything
works fine except my drive letters under "my computer" are missing. I get the
flashlight searching for the drives. I had this problem once before but
forgot how to correct this problem. I think we went to the services tab under
administrative tools and did some correcting. I would appreciate any help to
get my drive letters back.

TweakUi might be worth a try.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

In TweakUi select My Computer, Drive Letter option.

In Services what is the Start Up type for Windows Image Acquisition?
Mine is set to Automatic.

Hope this helps.

Gerry

Thanks. Upon further investigation I found this problem usually happens when
installng some of HP drivers. I have a vista laptop and everything was OK
when installed. This problems was with my desktop with XP. I had to go into
the services tab and disable windows Image acquistion. Now my drives are
back. Everything is OK. I guess it is nice to find a answer to my own problem.

You don't mention what operating system you are using. It it's XP Pro
you can use the Group Policy Editor to unhide the drives. If you're on
XP Home you will need to download and install Group Policy Editor from
the following link -

http://files.filefront.com/GPEdit+Fi.../fileinfo.html

Once installed go to Start, Run, type in gpedit.msc and hit enter or
click OK. This will start Group Policy Editor. Now you will have to look
through all the setting to find the ones which control whether or not
drives show in Explorer and My Computer.
