Hi
I realise this is primarily an HDD ng but hoping that someone can steer me
in the right direction.
Just installed DI7 today and tried out the novelty of burning directly to
DVD+RW.
After 4hours it had done just 20%. Realising that I was looking at 10hrs+
for a write and verify I decided to cancel the backup.
Now I find that I am unable to erase the partially burned data on the DVD.
I have Nero6. After selecting ERASE disc I get a message saying "This disc
is not rewritable and therefore cannot be erased".
Now I can cope with the occasional CD-R coaster. But DVD+RW discs can
become expensive!
Is there another utitlity I can use to wipe the DVD?
The discs are Verbatim. The drive is a Pioneer DVD A06. I'm running Win XP
pro.
Just for the record, prior to DI7 I was using Drive Image 6. I would first
burn the image to an empty partition reserved exclusivley for the purpose.
I'd use medium compression (image is done in half the time) in this example
approx 20 mins. I would then burn the image to DVD+RW and then verify -
approx 30 mins. So for me this was a delight to be able to backup a 5Gb+
partition and verify it so (relatively) quickly and easily.
After this experinence, I dont think I'll bother with burning direct to the
DVD in future. Its much too slow. Fortunately I have enough free space on
my second hard drive to backup the image there first.
Anyway, I'm curious why I now seem to have a dead DVD+RW disc and hoping I
can re-use it.
Thanks for any info.
Ian
