My laptop currently has its hard disk in FAT32.

I intend to change this to NTFS but , before doing this , I intend to
take a Drive Image 2002 Image File of the drive.

Should there be any problems with the conversion to NTFS , will the
FAT 32 Image File restore the disk back to the FAT 32 state ?

Yes, for Drive Image 2002 will replace the partition that has already been
converted tp NTFS, so the outcome would be a new restored FAT32 partition.
No problem, Windows has a built-in tool to convert a restored image to NTFS
by issuing the CONVERT <drive:> /fs:NTFS command
