I have a Sony DVD writer that shows as up in "My Computer" as a memory stick.
Can I correct this?

Is it connected to the USB? If so, remove it and reinstall it.

I know about two places in the registry where a DefaultIcon can be
defined:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\explorer.exe\Drives\X\DefaultIcon
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\X\DefaultIcon


Furthermore an icon can be defined in an autorun.inf file in the drives
root folder.
