drive or disk invalid playing DVD

I have a Thinkpad T22 with a HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-S200 and i
see the message "drive or disk invalid" when i try to play
a DVD movie. I run the Windows Update and installed the
SP4 and all the security updates.
Can anybody help me with this problem?
