Drive clone software

I am looking for software that will copy the entire content of a hard drive
to CDs and enable a restore to a new drive. So it will have to have a boot
disk to DOS or Linux and be self contained.

I have Casper XP2 that does this to another drive. It works without any
problems. It creates a perfect duplicate of the operating system and all
the programs. It is a Windows XP program. Makes no bones about copying
files that are in use. Just does it.

With my old Windows XP installation disk, that requires about 100mb of
updates and patches, plus the applications that require updates, it is
getting to be a pain to restore a drive after a drive failure.

I have tried Nova Stor Instant Recovery and Acronis True Image 6. Both do
not work on my system. Is there anything out there that works? Beside
Casper XP2?

Vlad

There's quite a few of those now.

One of them actually uses a bootable CD version of Win to do that.

Ghost, Drive Image, V2i Protector. All of those have free trial versions.

Speed,
Thank you for the suggestions. I tried Ghost that comes in Norton System
Works 2003. The restore produced a bootable hard drive but most of the apps
had empty folders. I will try Drive Image and V2i Protector.

Your system must have a serious problem if both Ghost
and True Image dont do what they are designed to do.

I'd fix the problem instead myself.
