Dreamscene high cpu usage

why dreamscene take so much of cpu usage?

I go from 2% at idle without dreamscene to 40 to 50% at idle with it
enabled. That's pretty significant cpu usage and is definately a noticable
hit on performance

2.66ghz p4 506 with 2gb ram and a 256mb ATI X200 series.
