Posting this here because no joy in Windows Mail forum.

Some images in e-mails show a red "x" where the image should be. Don't
believe this is a Windows Mail problem because it also shows up in Windows
Live Mail and Thunderbird. Have tried every solution offered: Unchecked "Read
messages in plain text" and "Block images and other external content in HTML
e-mail." Have latest Java download. Ad block and pop-up blocker are disabled.

As I said, I believe this is a Vista problem of some sort because other
e-mail clients have same issue.

Is it conceivable that these images are incompatible with latest Java? I'm
no computer expert. Need some help here. I'm out of ideas.

Ron

I get them on IE7 also - I click on Show Picture and sometimes the picture
appears but other times it does not. For example, at the bottom of MSN.com
there are comics. If I get a red x and am not able to get the picture to
appear, I will go to the comic page and the picture will be there - then
when I go back to the main page, the x is gone and the picture is there. Go
figure!

Jonathan, they're images in e-mails. For instance I have one from Orbitz, a
flight confirmation. There's a row of these little red x's in boxes at the
top of the e-mail. They're links to other pages on Orbitz's site, offers for
car rentals, cruises, and so forth. The links work, but the images don't
show. Any thoughts?

Apparently you are a "reasonably intelligent" person, have you even bothered
to consider even a few of the many other circumstances which might be
effecting your video? The spectrum is very broad; things like memory, video
card, internet connection, interferance from other programs, computer type,
VIDEO SETTINGS, maintenance on your computer, fire wall settings,
etc............. the list is almost endless

Do you have a security suite, like Norton Internet Security, McAfee, or a
third party firewall, etc installed?
If so, check the settings. They can cause what you are seeing.
Without knowing what you are running, it's impossible to give detailed
advice.
