Dreaded Blue Screen

About once every 3 days I get a blue screen telling me "Page fault in
non-paged area". This has been going on for about 3 weeks and always when I
click something within IE8. Tonight it happened when I clicked inside the
address bar. Other times it happened when I clicked in other places but
always within IE8. I ran a comprehensive virus scan and it found no virus or
spyware. Any ideas what's causing this? Any suggestions how to cure this
problem? Thanks.

Running XP Home SP3, IE8.0.6001.18702

Run IE8 in its no add-ons mode. That eliminates loading/accessing any
add-ons you installed into IE8. Then retest.

And if that does not help, test your memory with memtest86+ overnight;
if memory looks OK, then delete and reinstall IE8.

How do I run IE8 in no add-on mode? Also I forgot to mention in my post that
about the same time the blue screen started to appear I installed System
Mechanic Pro. I've contacted their tech support and reported the problem.
Awaiting response.

That's when you want to manage (enable/disable) them individually. You
aren't running in no add-ons mode actually. It's possible an add-on
isn't shown in that listing.

I doubt KIR has never heard of Google or use another online search
engine. It was a knee-jerk response versus expending some effort to
resolve how to use no add-ons mode. A Google search would've answered
his own question and he wouldn't have had to wait for a response here.

http://www.google.com/search?q=%2B"internet+explorer"+%2B"no+add-on"+mode

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=lang_en&q=site:support.microsoft.com+%2B"internet+explorer"+%2B"no+add-ons"+mode
(granted that not many Google users know about the "site:" operator)

Just right-click on IE's desktop icon, or use the -extoff command-line
parameter when running iexplore.exe. For the command line switches,
there are lots of articles describing them:

Note: Once posting order (top- or bottom-posting) has been established,
either retain that same order or rearrange all quoted content in your
reply into your preferred posting order style. Do NOT mix top- and
bottom-post styles together as it produces a garbled mess. If you post
your reply inline (as shown in my reply here), it's difficult to
understand unless you use bottom-posting order.

Right-click on the IE desktop icon. You could also load IE and hit F1
to search its own help for "no add-ons".

Well, since System Mechanic Pro is a utility and definitely not a
critical program, what happens after you uninstall it? Personally I
would stay away from all that Iolo garbage.
