We have an ac97 app that used to be around 35 Mg. Everytime the programmers
make change to it, we compact it.
Over the years, it has grown into 35 Mg. Until last week, after one compact,
it shrunk to 26 Mg with no obviours reason. We did not delete remove any
large amount of objects. And the application has been running fine since
then. The users have not found anything "missing".

Could any body explain it why? Is it common? I have not seen access behave
this way for all my years (5+).

did you upgrade from ac97 recently? if you are using a newer version that
might account for the dramatic change in size.

beyond that i have no clue...

as long as everything is working and all the data is there you should be ok.
