I am attempting to install DNS7 service pack 1 on Windows XP pro. The install commences, turns off DNS7, returns an error that DNS7 can not be found, click on OK and the processor jumps to 100% usage, at which point I have to end the install program through Task Manager and receive a message that Remote Procedure Call failed.

The same sequence occurs when attempting to install in safe mode.

I have done a Goggle search, checked the FAQs on the ScanSoft site and will not pay $9.95 to submit the problem to their tech support!

Has anyone had success installing the update to that program? If so, how did you do it?

If anyone is interested I solved the problem.

It was necessary to install DNS7 in the administrators account, then to run the service pack. Took awhile to figure out but I am now a happy camper.
