Having trouble when I drag and drop in movie maker I can't release it, the
object will not be placed and I cannot get rid of it, this means the only way
I can do things is by copying and pasting, which isn't ideal, any ideas for
me to be able to drag and drop.

I would suspect a video driver issue. It
may be worth a try to temporarily reduce
your Graphics Hardware Acceleration.

If it shows an improvement in the issue...
it's a strong indication that you need to
install an updated video driver.

The following article may be useful:

(836021) Windows Movie Maker 2
unexpectedly quits after you add a title,
a video transition, or a video effect
