Drag the object, not just it's outline

When I drag an object - like the notepad, for example, the outline moves,
then the object moves when I release the mouse button. My XP Pro provided a
method for me to change this so the entire object moved, not just the
outline. How do I do this in Vista? Thanks, Paul

Control Panel\Personalization. Choose Windows Color and Appearance. Click
on "Open classic appearance properties for more options." Click on the
"Effects..." button. Check "Show Windows content while dragging (OK). Then
(Apply, OK).

Thank you. It worked. I would never have figured that out. Are you one of
the Vista developers? How did you know?

No, not a developer, but a beta tester for several months, before the
official release of Vista. It does takes awhile getting accustomed as to
where the old things are and where (and what) the new things are in a new
OS.

I tried every query I could think of in Vista's Help, and didn't find what
you told me. I have used this or other newsgroups to get answers. Is there
another resource I could have used to find what you told me? I hope help
will become more complete.

You're right. I tried a number of ways to find it in Help, but couldn't.
Help was not helpful. It is mentioned in the PDF document "TweakGuides
Tweaking Companion for Windows Vista" (pages 131-132), which you can
download here:

http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html

I haven't read it all (it's fairly large), but it does strike me as being
pretty thorough regarding all things Vista (I just did a search within the
document for "dragging", and a reference to showing content while "dragging
around windows" showed up right away in the list).
