Downloading Executable files (EXE)

Greetings Everyone!

I have a problem with IE6. Any time I download an executable from the
internet, after the process, the file or even its trace does not appear on my
hard-drive.
I cannot find the file on my computer, it really does not exist!
When downloading images, webpages, no problem occurs.
I really don't know, what causes the problem (maybe something inbuilt
protection against malware, or I don't know) But it gives me nervous moments,
when I have to change to Mozilla Firefox to be able to download the EXE files
I need.

I thought that the installation of the Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview
will solve the problem, but no.

So I'm asking your help to find a solution!
Thank You!

The Windows Defender is still "Beta", which means it is not really a full
production program. Best to wait until the final release. With any "Beta"
software, if you don't have a separate machine that you can use to test the
software, then wait, so that it don't wind up trashing your production or
only machine. And before installing any Beta software, read the Release
notes and Known Issues information.

Hi Gavrell :-)

Your details are very vague. What is the current version of the IE browser
now showing? IE6 or IE7? To find out for sure click on this link
http://aumha.org/mydetail.htm and see which version it shows. If it shows
IE7 then, post your question, comment and/or problems to this newsgroup for
the benefit of the IE7 Beta team and other readers there;
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup.
On the web:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...plorer.general
In your newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...plorer.general

If is shows IE6, then do a system restore to a date and time before you
installed the IE7, or do the following:

IE Fix
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

If still no joy...

Make sure your anti-virus is turned off.

How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378
If you have SP2, follow the instuctions in the SP2 section:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=3...23120121120120

The section
Windows XP and Windows XP SP1: Edit the registry and install Internet
Explorer 6 works on earlier versions of Windows.

You will need to uninstall WinXP SP2 from Control Panel -> Add/Remove
Programs and then reinstall Service Pack 2. Follow the information here:

Hope this helps.
