I have an unlimited dial up connection with my ISP: Tiscali. I set the PC
running in the morning to download videos from the internet but each time I
do I only manage to download about 31Mb before I get the message 'download
complete' when normally there's about 150Mb of the video left to download.
This usually happens after about 95 mins of downloading. Am I doing something
wrong? I appreciate any advice.

Check the modem's properties in Device Manager to see if it has an
Advanced setting of allowing Windows to turn off the device for power
management. I don't have any computers with modems, so I can't check
for you. This is often a problem with NIC's, and it couldn't hurt to
see if your modem has this, too. Also make sure you don't have
connection set to disconnect after x number of minutes of idleness.

Thanks for the help. I checked my modem in device manager and it is not set
to turn off in power management or to disconnect after x number of minutes of
idleness and as it happens when I'm downloading I didn't this would happen.
Any other ideas?

Do you use any special connection software from Tiscali? If so, see if
there are updates. You might also check with Tiscali tech support;
perhaps this is a known issue. I'm sorry that I don't have more
specific help for you.
