I have problems with saving pictures other than as bmp
file and tried to empty out my downloaded programs folder
(plus temp)...but I can't see any entrys, when right
clicking/proberties, it shows 11 files and I know I have a
few activeX programs in there. Is this something new? that
explorer hides these files now? I have SP1 installed.

I have my folder options set to show everything...so whats
wrong all of a sudden?

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files has nothing to do with
saving jpg's. The Downloaded Program Files folder contains functionality
that enables you to easily uninstall ActiveX controls.

Empty the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder.

Internet Explorer Does Not Save Graphics Files in the Proper Format

Internet Explorer Saves Images As Bitmaps (.bmp Files)
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810978

=================

Display hidden files and folders

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Folder Options | View tab
Check:
Display the contents of system folders
Show hidden files and folders
UNCheck:
Hide protected operating system files
Apply | OK

[[Hidden files and folders will appear dimmed to indicate they are not
typical items.]]

Hi wes
I know that this folder saves activeX controls, but
according to microsoft it's supposed to fix my problem
with saving jpegs in the correct format...see your link!
I emptied out the temp internet folder first but that
didn't fix it.
My folder options are set to display everything incl
hidden and system files.
I'm gonna check your other links and see if there's
something new.
thanks
frank

Hi frank;

I guess it does. If one of the ActiveX controls is listed
as either Unknown or Damaged.

Are you by any chance using AOL???
