DOS printing from XP

I have an older DOS inventory control program that will
only print to an LPT port. I've read through the newsgroup
and tried the solutions offered. To no avail.

When I run the 'net use' command, it doesn't work for me.
If I have anything other than just 'LPT' or blank in
the "LPT1" space, I get error 66 (The network resource
type is not correct). It doesn't matter which port I try
(1, 2, 3, 4) I still get an error.

If I run the command with just 'LPT' or blank it says
command completed, but it still doesn't print. I've tried
it with and without the colons, with and without spaces,
with and without '/persistent' command, with and without
the trailing '\'. Nothing.

I'm completely stumped! I guess I'll keep trying, but I
could sure use some help.

Thanks,
Zeb Cochran
