dos batch file in xp pro

Why does a simple batch file not respond as in previous
OS's

eg.
MyBat.bat
==================
C:
CD \MyApp
F:
CD \DATA
C:MyApp
=================
The batch file when run from the command prompt go
through the motions but does not change the directories?
Any suggestions?
