Fast and reliable Japanese Browser for English speaking users (eng
characters)
Direct (English) Cab download: (file size: 613 kb)
http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/absorb/DonutL21_e.cab

Besides using Opera 7.23, Avant, and Greenbrowser, I also use Donut L
(IE shell) for its super fast downloads and tool-bar functions/buttons
that the other browsers don't have for their toolbars. An extensive
array of *security* buttons can be had for quick on/off measures when
visiting 'questionable' sites. Donut L 21 [eng] was released 4/11/04
over the previous L 18 version and is freeware.

Last night I did some eye-ball testing of download speeds on all four
browsers and Donut L21 seemed fastest of the lot!
\
Before using:
Configure 'user customizing' in Toolbar(menu) View>Toolbars>User
Customizing. The toolbars 'meat' and home page button are found in
'user customizing' as out/off needing to be put in.

I suggest tweaking preference tabs as well: (F4) The browser as
'Default' looks almost 'crippled' compared to what it can do once it's
configured. That takes all of five minutes.

Downside:
left/right (previous/forward) side-button mouse clicking doesn't work.
The earlier version had the same problem.

No window cascading, but many see that as a plus.

(File size: 613 kb)
Direct (English) download:

The direct download doesn't work in Opera 7.23

I think that its pretty good. Could use a better-looking UI, though...

Another IE skin. Just what we need. Not.

Thanks for posting the link! It's much easier to use than foraging
through the authors rather scribbly looking site trying to find the
same file.

I said there was a downside in not being able to use the
previous/forward side buttons of a five-button mouse. You *can*
activate those buttons by going to options (F4) and clicking the RAPT
tab. A check box is left empty saying: "Support back and forward
five-button mouse". That needs to be checked for the side buttons to
work. Hope that helps.

Side note:
I've been using DonutR (another of their shell series) for nearly two
years, as speed-ball-backup when fed up with bloating, and still won't
part with that cascading-window original-- at 335kb:
http://tds.sourceforge.net/

"Update of English" is the download, if interested.

It's old (2001), not an update per se.
