Homer admires, even worships stupidity. He just can't see the point in being clever. As he observed, contemplating the candidates for the recent U.S. election: 'A president doesn't have to be smart. All he has to do is point the army and shoot.'

He is a representation of all that is good in america. He deserves to be an icon. After all the Turner Prize has presented some of the finest art this centuary to the world.

Hurray for modern times.

I like the Simpsons, an accurate reflection of the USA, methinks.

And Matt Groening is a big Captain Beefheart fan
