How does the LogonUser API work (NTLM and/or Kerberos)?

Hi. I'm trying to understand what happens once I pass the user
credentials to the LogonUser API. Does it use NTLM or Kerberos for
domain authentication? Or does it select authentication mechanism
based on OS and/or installed packages?

Thanks for any insight and pointers.

Br,

Morten
