A rough and ready test (which may not be
accurate) shows that the source control is stored
in the _cti_cnf file associated with the file
being opened.
If this is true - it is for disc based webs -
then deleting the _vti_cnf folders and files
should cure the problem.
There is one _vti_cnf folder in every folder in
the website (except folders with names starting
with _vti). These folders cannot be seen in
FrontPage, but can be deleted using an FTP
program, or your host may oblige ... If you
delete any other _vti* folders (such as _vti_pvt)
the extensions will have to be re-installed.
It is possible that feedback.htm is the only file
affected, so delete the file associated with
feedback.htm first, just to check.
This will be at _vti_cnf\feedback.htm
The _vti_cnf files and folders will be recreated
(after deletion) by using Tools->Recalculate
Hyperlinks in FrontPage.
Note that these files contain a brief history of
the files in the website - who created and
edited the file and when, links to and from the
page withion the website (used for file
management) and publishing history. Recreating
the files should re-establish the link history,
but the rest will be lost.
Note - a file that is checked out has a tick
next to the filename in the folder list and
folders view. If ther is no tick showing, and you
get the error, there IS something strange on the
server.
