I've been having nightmares attempting to publish my website. I finally
resorted to having my host completely delete my hosting account and create a
new one from scratch. The problem I have now is that Frontpage still shows
all my old files loaded in the new hosting account!? If I use an FTP client
to connect to the host the files are not there? When Frontpage connects to
that same host, all the old files are still visable? What's going on? How can
I tell Frontpage to refresh?

If you FTP to a server with extensions, you break the extensions.
There's no way FP can "hose" both port 80 and port 21 at the same time.
Port 80 is used when publishing via http:// port 21 is for ftp://

If your server has extensions, have your host reset / repair them and then publish using
"Only" the http:// address and do "Not" use any 3rd party ftp:// applications.

I have NOT successfully connected to my website host with any FTP client
since they created the new one for me this afternoon. The FP extensions were
there and loaded fresh.

I'm 100% convinced there is a configuration file, .ini file, .dll file, or
some file that controlls Frontpage operations within my local web folder that
is causing this to happen.

When the upload of files to the host by FP is terminated (why the
termination occurs is still up for debate) something prevents me from
re-connecting to the host server from my machine, and my machine only. If I
attempt to publish again after this termination occurs FP informs me that it
could not find a web server at www.kilmer-family.com on port 80. I can even
shut my PC completely off and restart it and the problem remains! Only 10 -15
minutes of waiting will cure the problem. Then I can upload 30 more seconds
worth of files before everything gets hosed again. What's REALLY strange is
that even though I can't get to port 80 via FP or port 21 via an FTP client,
I can still PING and trace route from my PC to the host just fine!!! Anyone
else who wants to FTP into my host is able to do so too!! It's like just my
locall assigned IP address gets blocked?

I'm so depressed because I have done so much work on this website and I
can't get it to upload only a few files at a time. At this rate it will take
a month to get it all up on the server.

OK.
A few things to try:
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner.
Run the functions to clear the FrontPage Temporary files and the Cache(.web) files.

Close FP Cleaner and tell it "No" do not start FrontPage.

Close IE if open
Right click the IE Icon on your desktop click Properties and clear the history, cookies and
temporary internet files from the General tab that opens.

Then on the same dialog click the Programs tab, click "Reset web settings" uncheck "Reset My
homepage" and then click OK
all of the way out.

Then assuming Windows 2000 or XP
Click Start > Run and enter: ipconfig /flushdns
and press enter
Note: there is a space between ipconfig and /flushdns

When it's done, close the command window, reopen FrontPage, open your web, recalculate
hyperlinks
and then click File > Publish Web. ( Publish site in fp 2003 )

Let us know what happens.

Made no difference.

Once the publish command was given FP took inventory of the files on my
local machine, then took inventory of the files currently residing on the
host. Then it started uploading. Went for 32 seconds before it just quit
again.

I contacted GoDaddy (My host) and they say the server log files show nothing
unusual.

I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and purchase a copy of FP 2003. This
really sucks because I've spent so much money on FP 2000 and then FP 2002.
Now I have to pay more money to Bill Gates just to get this site uploaded....

Why do you think upgrading is going to solve your problem? You need to switch web host!

Upgrade, only if the additional features will be of benefit to you. However FP2003 uses the FP2002
extensions and offer the same features as FP2002 that require the FP extensions unchanged.

I've been told that FP 2003 allows you to update your website files one or
just a few at a time. I'm thinking if I were to only upload a few files at a
time instead of trying to upload all 40,000 at once it might not take as
long.

Keep in mind I can only upload for approximately 30 seconds before the
connection between FP 2002 and my host gets corrupted. I have to then wait 15
minutes before the connection magically clears itself up. If I were able to
only publish a few files at a time I may be able to prevent this connection
corruption that keeps occuring.

FP2002 offers the same function, however is not a good idea to use that function/feature since it
only uploads the actual file and does not upload externally linked content (images) or update the
hidden FP indexes on the destination server (if running the FP extensions)
