Hi there,

I've created a home network recently, I shared a folder on MY computer
within the network. My sister deleted one of the files in the shared folder
through HER computer by mistake but I cannot seems to find it from the
recycle bin from either her computer or mine. Where does the deleted files in
a network goes to? Is there anyway I can recover the lost file?

Files deleted across a network do not go to any recycle bin so cannot be
recovered in the normal fashion. You might try Restoration from
http://www.geocities.jp/br_kato/. Whether or not you can successfully
restore the file will depend on whether that part of the disk has been
written over since the file was deleted. Do as little as possible on the
PC where the file was stored until you are able to run restoration to try
to recover the deleted file.

no longer available. Do you happen to have an alternative link? Anyway, where
do I do the recovery from? As in which computer? The computer where the file
was originally stored?

An alternate link is to go to http://www.aumha.org/free.htm and click
Restoration on the left. You want to restore the file from the computer
where it was originally stored.

What a great page! I get irritated by bare lists of links, but in
this site James Eshelman has taken the trouble to write a one-
paragraph description of each program, so I can tell whether it's
worth my while to download and install it. Even though I'm not the
OP, thanks for making me aware of it!
