My daughter saved a presentation in powerpoint. When she tried to retreive
it, it said the file was moved or did not exist anymore. When she rebooted
and tried to go back to the project, the icon was gone. Is there any way to
retreive the lost project.

thanx

Tagreen,
First try if the file is still listed in the recent files list, click on
File, look at the bottom of the menu is the file listed there. Also try this
(assuming you use Windows XP), click on start - navigate to recently opened
(not sure about the exact wording, but it's at the top of the column) - in
this list should be listed all files you saved recently in any program you
used. Is the file of your daughter listed there? If that doesn't help post
back and we will try to help some more.

Tagreen,
Alternatively you can search for all PPT-files you have made in say the last
week. Do not start PPT, hit F3 which brings you the search dialog, choose
documents (spreadsheets ... etc), hit the radio button in the past week,
type *.ppt in the box next to document name, hit search and pray it is
there.

You can always try the old fasioned way to find out if the file accidentally
got moved to another location:
START (button)
SEARCH
FOR FILES OR FOLDERS
type in the first four letters of the name of the document in the box
provided,
select C:\ for "where to look"
ENTER

Also, did you check the RECYCLE BIN in case it accidentally got deleted?
