That document contains too many cells. At this time, spreadsheets inGoogle Docs only support up to 400000 cells

I had this error when uploading an Excel spreadsheet into Google
docs. The problem was I had too many blank columns and needed to
delete them. I tried manually deleting them with no luck. Then I
used this link:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244435

and used the formatting cleaner for Excel. Worked like a champ
