Document Archiving to FLASH or USB disk drive

I'm looking for a standalone scanner (no PC required) that can scan straight
to some sort of removable media, such as a Flash card or USB disk drive.

Additional, but not required features, Image Preview and Portability.

What you are describing sounds a LOT more like what we call a "Digital
Camera" than what most of us call a scanner. Have you tried a camera?
Many of them do a pretty good job if set up properly.(Tripod or some
sort of stand, with proper lighting).
