I have a virus that avg seems to detect and remove fine, but it keeps
coming back. I have researched it and the instructions say to shut off
restore. I have found instructions on XP and ME but I can't find
anything that tells me how to do this for win 2k. I believe the virus
is called startpage.6.aq and it is happily eating my dll's one by one.
HELP!

Direct replies are appreciated.

You can't because System Restore does not exist in Windows 2000. Easiest way
to remove the virus in question is to boot into Safe Mode, (Reboot and press
F8 until a menu comes up and select Safe Mode) Perform a full system virus
scan and remove EVERY infected file. If nothing is detected (because a
Google search turned up no results) then this maybe spyware. If that does
happen to be the case, then see below:

there is no system restore for windows 2000... therefore there's no
system restore to turn off... therefore system restore is not the
problem...
