Hi

I have office ultimate 2007, in outlook 2007 I am trying to reset all the
user settings to default as to how it was when I first installed it.

Could anyone give me any advice on how to do this?

Many thanks for your time!

Regards

Doron

Hi Doron,

with Exchange server or a local PST file?

If you use PST files, I would create a new profile:

hi oliver

thanks for your reply.

i just wanted to check something with you if i could

since i brought it last year i've just changed a few settings in tools

i took a look in the tools / options menu and couldn't see any default
settings to reset outlook to how it was when first installed.

i wasn't sure if it was like word 2007 and you delete the registry setting
and then when you open word 2007 again then all the word settings are reset
to how it was when first installed

i do want to keep my outlook.pst file because i have my contacts and emails
i still want but not sure if all the settings are on their also

hope this helps and you can point me in the right direction

regards

doron

In addition to what Oliver has advised, you can try opening Outlook with the
following switch:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /firstrun

Please post back and let us know how you make out.

Can you define what you mean by returning the user settings back to default
then? What is your goal, what do you hope to achieve?

hi kathleen

what i mean by user settings back to default is i want outlook 2007 back to
how it was when i first installed it with office ultimate 2007.

by "user settings back to default" i mean all the settings in the toolbar
such as FILE / EDIT / VIEW / GO / TOOLS / ACTION etc

reason being since i brought it last year i have played around with it

for example with word 2007 if you go to the windows registry and delete a
certain section, then open word 2007 all the settings will go back to
default, as to how it was when it was first installed, i have done this and
can confirm it does work.

because word 2007 can do this i am taking an educated guess outlook 2007 can
maybe do this also

hope this helps

regards

So all the views you've set, changes to the toolbars, etc. should go back to
Outlook's pristine default install appearance?

In that case, my recommendation is to create a new profile for Outlook to use:
