On a slide, you have "click to add title" and "click to add subtitle". I
want to be able to remove the "click to add title" and use the subtitle area
for the entire slide.

How do you remove this, while you are in the Creating part of the
presentation?

This is a standard part of the way layouts work. Any placeholders that have
Click to Add... won't show during a presentation if there is no text in them.

Having said that, you can modify the individual slide by clicking on the
outside edge of the box and hitting the delete key to remove the placeholder.
You can then stretch the subtitle placeholder to the desired size.

If you are using slide masters, slide the title placeholder off the slide and
resize the other placeholder as needed. Now every slide you create will have
this format.
