I have a cd image on my computer that i am trying to delete because it
is corrupt and take a bunch of space. I once mounted this image using a
program that I have since deleted. I can not delete this file because
it says it is in use.

I have gone to msconfig and shut down everything I can think of
rebooted the computer and tried to delete it.
I have restarted the computer in safemode without networking and tried
to delete it.
I have run windows disk check and tried to delete it.
I have searched the windows registry and deleted all references to it
and tried to delete it.
I have gone to the windows task manager and shut down a lot of process
and tried to delete it but frankly I left some stuff alone that I did
not recognize.

How do I find the process that is using this file or correct windows
erroneously thinking this file is in use?

Thanks

Michael

See if this can help:
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

Another option is to reinstall that program which was used originally to
mount the image and see if you can get rid of it after that.

Another method would be to boot into the Recovery Console
and delete the file from there. You must first enable access to
all folders by doing this:
- Run gpedit.msc
- Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Windows Settings /
Security Settings /
Security Options / Recovery Console: Allow floppy disk access . . .
- Set this policy to "Enabled".

You're welcome. What did? Using Unlocker? What was locking it?
