How do I tell Word 2007 to allow a shift+space?

As ... you are typing along and hit the shift for say to type "CT scan", if
you are typing quickly, your fingers don't always come off the shift key and
consequently it looks like this "CTscan" without a space. Anyone know where
to tell it to allow the space with the shift key??

In every version of Word I've ever seen, a shift+space is exactly the same as
the spacebar without the shift -- in other words, the shift key does _not_
prevent the space from appearing.

Are you sure you're actually pressing the spacebar when this happens? Try
swapping your keyboard for another one temporarily; maybe you need one with less
resistance to key pressure.

This is not a Word issue. Even Notepad will not space if you continue
to hold down on the Shift key too long and continue typing.

The Shift key is known as a modifier key on all keyboards and is used
to type capital letters and characters such as parentheses, question
mark, and quotes. The spacebar does not fall into any category used
in conjunction with modifier keys, only accelerator keys where you
might use Ctrl + Shift + space to insert a nonbreaking space.

Really? I have never found that to be the case - even in Notepad. The space
key which will work normally whether or not Shift is depressed at the time.
Whether this is true for all languages I cannot confirm, but it is certainly
so in English.

As for an inability to space CT Scan correctly - create an autocorrect entry
to correct the erroneous version with the correct version.

Sorry, Graham. I should have been more specific. If you hold down on
Shift and type CT, then space, then let up on the Shift key and type
scan, you will not get a space. It sure works this way in my Notepad
and Word 2007.

How very odd - it certainly doesn't do that here. Space with or without
shift produces a space.

I am with Graham on this one. Are you sure that you do not have an
autocorrect entry that replaces CT scan with CTscan?

Hope this helps.

Just to add one more voice, I'm with Graham and Doug: Shift+Spacebar
produces a space on my keyboard as well.
