When someone sends me an e-mail with a colored background and I go to print
on my color laserjet, it prints all that colored background, wasting ink.
How can I tell it to just print text without background? I am using MS
Outlook 2002.

Since Word is usually associated with Outlook as the default email editor.
You can get rid of Background printing inside of Word. Open Word and go to
Tools>Options and go to the print tab. Uncheck Background Printing in the
Printing options section. This should take care of the issue. Good Luck
