I am running Outlook 2007 and windows vista home addition. Every time I edit
an appointment on my outlook, say to catagoize or change time, save and
close Outlook automatically make it a recurring appointment. I see that
there has been a few posts concerning this, but there were no answers. Does
anyone know how to stop this from happening?

Remove the Outlookaddinsetup from Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. Not sure why you never saw this answer - posted every time to this recurring question.
