How do I stop the 90 deg. rotation default on text boxes in PPT?

When ever I create a new text box in Powerpoint it is rotated 90 degrees. I
have to go to the text box control every time to turn off the check box for
rotation. How do I re-set this default so that the text is written normally?

You need to set something else to be the "default"
