Some folks may find this first hand information very disturbing. Its media vs People. A very good friend of mine who is much elder to me always had this to say about the future.

"This country (US) is asking for a revolution and it will come, common people are tired of being taken for a ride"

Take a peek and see what your impression is.

Yes and all over the world, ordinary people have had enough of being turned over by the banks, big corporations, the very wealthy and governments as they were in the 1920's and 30's but feel more empowered now now than they were then. Because it is we who provide the wealth that the 1% have and now it is we that will have to pay in taxes to put things right whilst the wealthy invest in the tax havens like the Channel Isles etc. There is an on going sit in going on in London small but growing and young people from the North of England reinacting the 1920's Jarrow March fed up with being unemployed and not being able to find employment. If am banned for my comments I sorry but that is as I feel.

nobody here gets 'banned' for their political beliefs, Floppy is still here and he voices his opinions often , however, politics are not the main agenda of this forum ... if you really wanna be heard, go shoot your local MP, I'm sure he won't notice being really dead.

I do, I do, I know, but I try really hard to be a commentator, almost non-partial, and attempt to draw learned comment without flaming.

Seem to have got away with it so far yet I know I do push the boat out sometimes.

It's possible I get away with it because at this stage in life I am apolitical, I've sussed they're all rotten.

Considering my moderator status perhaps it's a luxury I should not afford myself, dunno.

Revolution? As old as mankind itself, here's a link I truly believe in. The link is offensive (maybe to some) and contains cuss words but imo this fella tells it just like it is:

Only took me 34 years of my life to come to the conclusion that they are all rotten and nothing will change!

That George guy seems to have it all down pat too..

Revolution just another word for negotiation isn't it!

Um... yeah. Add (amount x) bloody noses, (amount y) random incarcerations, (amount z) dead bodies... oh, and the boilerplate demand (cancellation of debt and redistribution of property) to negotiation and presto! A revolution.

A good read: David Graeber: Debt: The first five thousand years

Interview (C-SPAN video)

A voice from the year 1867: In its beginnings, the credit system sneaks in as a modest helper of accumulation and draws by invisible threads the money resources scattered all over the surface of society into the hands of individual or associated capitalists. But soon it becomes a new and formidable weapon in the competitive struggle, and finally it transforms itself into an immense social mechanism for the centralisation of capitals.

Yup, Marx. Not Groucho, the other one. His analysis was solid -- unfortunately his suggestions for a better, fairer future were not.

A revolution could not happen in this country.

The population have been de-politicised and know that regardless of what the electorate want, the politicians will do whatever they choose, the corporations will not pay any tax and the financial sector will tell the government what to do and when to do it.

On top of that, the people in this country pride themselves on being stupid. If you go to Holland for example, they encourage and respect intellectual pursuit. Here you are only respected if you have been on TV or if you are a footballer.

Nothing will happen, and we will continue to be ignored. Money is all that is important in government these days, there is no political conviction, ideal or aim. All politics is is the pursuit of a second term by saying whatever is necessary and then doing as little as possible to change the status quo to offend as few as possible and take as few risks as possible.
