I am attempting to set up a Word template for export to Powerpoint. I
assumed (silly me) that a page break would generate a new slide. It does not.

What does?

When you send content from Word to PPT, the slide formatting and splitting
is based on the style used fro the text. Heading 1 means title, Heading 2
means first level content, Heading 3 means second level content, etc.

Change the styles for the text in your Word file and let us know how it
goes.

My guess is that each entry in an outline generates a new slide.
If you use outline view in Word, this will give you a good sense where each
new slide will start.

Otherwise you can use the headings in normal view. I think every subheading
creates a bulleted list within the slide that is formed by Heading 1.

Figured that out just after I posted. Thanks for your correct solution.
I've been using far more potent presentation programs for years as a
consultant/contractor, but just took a position with a very large oil company
and must use PP for consistency in some cases so that divisions can edit.

Perhaps you can help with my other post on reveal text? Having to have a
separate slide just to add a new line seems less than "elegant."

Kind regards,
Dave

Glad to help - the answer to your reveal text was posted right after the
answer to this one, so it should show already. If not, it says:
David, check out this entry from Steve Rindsberg's PPT FAQ:
