How can I set Outlook to accept HTML emails directly? Right now it changes
all incomming HTML emails to plain text.

Outlook 2003 has no trouble rendering HTML messages. It has the ability to
render incoming messages as plain text, but you must explicitly turn that
on. Click Tools>Options>E-mail Options and examine the check box labeled
"Read all standard mail in plain text". Is it checked or not?

Brian...Thanks for the advice....I've gone the recommended route several
times...just to make sure that I did not inadvertantly check that box...it is
NOT checked...any other suggestions.

Then one explanation is that you have something in between your ISP mailbox
and Outlook that is modifying the message as it comes in. If you have any
application that scans incoming mail (antivirus or -spam app or firewall)
and see if that makes a difference.

I do not think so...there is a little message at the top left of incoming
mail that is supposed to be in HTML....it states that "This email has been
converted to plain text", when highlighted it allows one to convert it back
to HTML...this gets to be a real pain after a day of so.....I was hoping that
there was another part of Outlook that could have been inadvertantly
activated to do the conversion to plain text...guess not....Thanks for your
attempt.

And this is in your Inbox? If you were looking in your Junk E-mail folder I
could explain it.
