For years I've been able to click on the up or down arrow at the top of a
message to go to the next message. The arrows disappeared after our tech guy
corrected a problem between Outlook & Word. Thanks.

Is this perhaps a RTF message? Then disable the option to use Word as the
viewer for RTF messages;
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format

Instead of the arrows, you can also use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+> and
CTRL+<
