I have a WXP pro pc on a network, identical to all other pcs on the network.
It has been running fine, but I needed to rename the pc and received an error
after attempting that:

"Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using
more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous
connections to the server or shared resource."

This is something I have done literally a thousand times in my domain with
many different pcs and never had a problem. This is the ONLY pc this user
has, so I don't understand the "multiple connections" part of the error.
Please help!

Is "File and Printer Sharing" enabled on this PC? It could be that
some other PC/user(s) have the shared resource open during the rename.

Not sure about that, but I will check that right away and try again. Thanks
for the tip.
