i can't send email from outlook 2003 - i keep getting this error but haven't
changed any of my email settings. I've disabled email scanning in Norton but
it hasn't resolved. Help please!

Disabling Norton's email scanning is seldom (if ever) sufficient, one
usually must uninstall Norton, use Norton's debris removal tool to cleanup
all the crud the uninstaller leaves behind, then do a custom re-install
without any email scanning features/components/modules. You absloutely do
NOT need email scanning, it is entirely redundant, a large waste of time,
and, as you see here, a source of trouble where there is none otherwise.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

I'd like to know if this resolved the problem, as I have had this same
problem since Saturday. My ISP has now a handful of subscribers with the
same issue and no one suddenly changed anything on their systems. I've
uninstalled completely antivirus and still have the same error code and
cannot send mail. I've done complete uninstall of MS Office and reinstall to
no avail. It seems there are a lot of people with this same problem coming
through the discussion sites in the last few days with no resolution. Does
MS have a bug that needs to be addressed??

Have your ISP check on their spam. Apparently my problem was because of the
server freezing up because of spam mail that has no subject line and nothing
in the text. They were able to fix it after realizing that it made the
server freeze...and it is only on sporadic accounts with the ISP.

Sue, have you resolved this problem, or gotten any good information? I've
been reading these threads for 3 days looking for a solution. I've tried all
the suggestios, but I still get the error message. I'm with Comcast in South
Florida.

Does anybody else have a solution???

Post something more than just a quote of someone else's message.

That was a learning curve mistake. I successfully got my question on right
after. Thanks for so promptly looking at these posts, Brian.
