How do I reset Smart hyperlink formatting

I was creating an email message and at one point I was inserting a hyperlink.
When I inserted the link, I saw a brief dialog appear and disappear and
since then, when I copy (or type) a link address, I've had to highlight the
link and press Cntrl + K to set it as a hyperlink.

How can I reset Outlook to automatically set these links?
