The reminders popping up cannot be removed since the "dismiss" selection
results in not find the calendar item the reminder is associated to

That should be "outlook.exe /cleanreminders" without the quotes.

I have the same problem. Clean reminders did not work. The reminder resets
itself as due now every time I open outlook and the overdue timr starts from
then. I'm using outlook 2007 and vista.

I know you meant to post "cleanreminders" did not work. But if you typed in "clean reminders" of course it did not work.

However, display your calendar in List view - then scroll down the list until you find the errant reminder.

My Outlook 2007 in Vista on my laptop recently started the same problem
(reminders for deleted calendar items). Two reminders pop up each time I
open Outlook. One shows as a 7-day old item, the other 108 weeks overdue.

I've used Outlook 2007 for nearly a year. Note: I sync the datafiles
between my Vista laptop and XP desktop using 3rd party software, but don't
have the problem on the XP desktop.

Following this thread, I ran the "outlook.exe /cleanreminders" suggestion.
Did not solve the problem. I changed the "View" to the "All Appointments"
list, put in a "Reminder" column, but could not find either of the
non-existent items.

I also did a search for a specific word in one of the items (a latin name
for a plant that would only have been in the deleted item). Nothing was
found.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Howard

I've downloaded the Outlook Spy program, but I'm afraid of messing up Outlook
instead of fixing it. Would you be able to post the specific steps to solve
the problem (reminders for deleted calendar items)?

Thank you!

I have had a big issue since I started using Office Outlook 2007 at work,
with Outlook reminders that could not be closed, even though the meeting had
been deleted and removed from my Calendar.

I figured out that the problem is caused by calendar items that were deleted
from my exchange server still being stuck in my offline items folder on my PC.

To resolve this, I opened the Outlook calendar, then right clicked on the
calendar in the "My Calendar's" section on the left frame of the window, then
selected properties.

Once the Properties dialog box appeared, I selected the "Clear Offline
Items" button, which scared me at first because it removed all of my calendar
events, but the next time I started outlook, it pulled them all back down
from the exchange server, and the annoying reminders that would not go aware
were finally gone!

I hope it helps in the future. It's a lot quicker than other resolutions I
read.
